BÖHLER FOX CN 22/9 N is a rutile, core wire alloyed electrode of the E 22 9 3 N L R / E2209-17 type. It is designed for duplex steels such as 1.4462 / UNS 31803 and S32205, with offshore engineering and the chemical industry as its fields of application.
The base materials include 1.4462 (X2CrNiMoN22-5-3), 1.4362 (X2CrNiN23-4) and 1.4162 (X2CrNiMoN21-5-1). The electrode welds in all positions, wets the edges well, the slag comes off easily and the coating gives high resistance to porosity. Impact toughness is reliable down to minus 20 degrees C. For a wall thickness above 20 mm or toughness requirements down to minus 60 degrees C the maker recommends the basic BÖHLER FOX CN 22/9 N-B.

The electrode runs on alternating and direct current, so match the power source to the conditions on site. Hold a short arc, run narrow beads and let the joint cool between layers, because overheated duplex loses its ferrite to austenite balance. Out of position limit the weaving and do not raise the current above the range given for the diameter. Keep the coating in dry storage.
