What BÖHLER FOX CN 23/12 Mo-A stick electrode is used for

BÖHLER FOX CN 23/12 Mo-A is a rutile coated electrode of the E 23 12 2 L / E309LMo-17 type. It provides an increased delta ferrite content in the weld metal, about 20 FN, for safe and crack resistant dissimilar joints as well as for cladding or the root passes of clad steel.

The base materials cover structural steels from S355N to S500N along with P235G1, P255G1, S255N and P295GH. The electrode runs on alternating and direct current with the electrode positive, it has a high current carrying capacity with minimum spatter, the slag releases itself and the weld profile is smooth and clean. A moisture resistant coating and hermetically sealed tins keep the risk of porosity down. The operating temperature runs from minus 60 to 300 degrees C, and up to 400 degrees C for the first surfacing layer.

  • Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 23 12 2 L R 3 2, EN ISO 3581-B: ES309LMo-17
  • AWS classification A5.4 / SFA-5.4: E309LMo-17
  • Coating: rutile
  • Current: AC/DC+
  • Diameters: 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 / 5.0 mm
  • Lengths: 300, 350 and 450 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (01362), DB (30.014.41), ABS, RINA, DNV, BV, LR, CE

On the root of clad plate lead the arc so that you do not pick up too much of the mild steel, because dilution kills the ferrite and opens up hot cracks. For a mild to stainless joint set the current in the lower part of the range and lay straight beads. Open the tin at the workstation, a hermetic pack only counts until it is opened. Take the tint off with a stainless steel brush.
