BÖHLER FOX EAS 2 is a basic coated, cored wire alloyed electrode of the E 19 9 L B / E308L-15 type, used mainly for the 1.4306 / 304L and 304LN steel grades. It is designed for first class weld deposits with reliable CVN impact toughness down to minus 196 degrees C, and the maker names it as an electrode for site work.
The base materials are 1.4301 (X5CrNi18-10), 1.4306 (X2CrNi19-11) and 1.4311 (X2CrNiN18-10). The electrode bridges gaps well, gives a very good root pass and excellent X-ray safety. Welding runs in all positions except vertical down, the pool and the slag are easy to control, and the slag comes off easily even in narrow preparations, so there is little cleaning afterwards. The maximum service temperature is 350 degrees C. A special low ferrite version, BÖHLER FOX EAS 2 (LF), is also available.

Good gap bridging and a reliable root make this electrode the choice for site work, where the fit-up is often far from the drawing. Direct current with the electrode positive, a short arc, and in the root run more slowly and watch the keyhole. Dry the basic coating to the maker data sheet, on work with radiographic requirements a damp electrode ends as porosity on the film.
