BÖHLER FOX EV 47 is a basic coated electrode of the E7016-1 H4R type for high quality welded joints. The manufacturer directs it to rigid welds with a heavy cross section, where shrinkage stresses build up in the material. The metal recovery is about 110 percent.
The base steels are S235JR to S355JR, S235JO to S355JO, S235J2 to S355J2, S275N to S355N, S275M to S355M and P235GH to P355GH. The deposit is extremely ductile, crack resistant and ageing resistant. The diffusible hydrogen content stays below 4 ml per 100 g of weld metal under the AWS condition. Welding is possible in all positions except vertical-down.

In a rigid joint the bead sequence matters more than the current setting: lay the runs so that the shrinkage is distributed evenly, and do not start every layer from the same end. Dry the electrodes to the instructions, because the declared hydrogen class applies to a dry coating. Keep the arc short and use DC with the positive pole on the holder. Fill heavy sections with many thin layers rather than one wide one.
