BÖHLER FOX SAS 2 is a basic coated stabilized electrode of the E 19 9 Nb B / E347-15 type, intended mainly for welding titanium and niobium stabilized austenitic stainless steels, that is 1.4541 / 321 and 1.4546 / 347. The manufacturer states reliable CVN impact values down to -196 degrees C and recommends it for site work and for heavy, rigid components.
The base materials are 1.4301 (X5CrNi18-10), 1.4306 (X2CrNi19-11) and 1.4311 (X2CrNiN18-9). The electrode bridges gaps and gives excellent X-ray safety. It welds in all positions except vertical-down, the pool and the slag stay easy to control, the slag lifts readily and the bead surface comes out clean, so there is little cleaning to do afterwards. The maximum service temperature is 400 degrees C.

Niobium stabilization protects the joint against intergranular corrosion, but it needs the heat kept in check, so hold the interpass temperature down and do not warm the material up with wide weaving. Dry the basic coating before work exactly as the data sheet says. On rigid components plan the bead sequence so that the shrinkage does not pull the structure to one side.
