BÖHLER FOX SAS 4-A is a rutile coated, cored wire alloyed stabilized electrode of the E 19 12 3 Nb R / E318-17 type, intended mainly for welding the titanium and niobium stabilized austenitic stainless steels 1.4571 / 316Ti and 1.4580 / 316Cb.
The base materials include 1.4401 (X5CrNiMo17-12-2), 1.4404 (X2CrNiMo17-12-2) and the cast grade 1.4409 (GX2CrNiMo19-11-2). Handling on AC and DC is easy, the current carrying capacity is high, spatter is minimal and the slag releases by itself from a smooth bead. The moisture resistant coating limits the risk of porosity. The corrosion resistance corresponds to that of 316Ti, with good resistance to general and pitting corrosion, at service temperatures up to 400 degrees C.

- Approvals: TÜV (00777), DB (30.014.07), CE
The rutile coating and the ability to run on AC make this the electrode for assembly and repairs in the field. Set the current in the lower part of the range for the diameter, keep the arc short and run stringer beads, and let the joint cool between layers. Brush the discoloration off afterwards with a stainless steel brush, and in a chloride environment pickle and passivate the surface.
