BÖHLER FOX Yellow is an electrode with a rutile-basic coating, of the E6013 type, with very good characteristics in vertical-up welding. The manufacturer recommends it for girth welds on pipelines accepted by radiography, and beyond that for boilers, tanks, steel structures and ships.
The base materials are S235JRG2 to S355J2, the grades P235GH, P265GH and P295GH, and pipe to API 5L. The root fuses evenly and without porosity even in a narrow gap, which matters a great deal when fitting pipe on site. Out of position the electrode handles lightly, without the pool running away.

With a narrow gap reduce the current and work with a short arc, so as not to overheat the pipe edges. Weld vertical-up with a ladder pattern of small amplitude, with a short pause at the sides. The electrode comes in the 4.0 mm diameter only, so choose another consumable for thin walled pipe. Before radiography grind away arc strike marks outside the groove, because they are what most often spoils the test result.
