Phoenix Grün T is a rutile coated electrode of the E6013 type for unalloyed steels. The manufacturer offers it in diameters from 2.0 up to 6.0 mm, so one catalogue item covers thin sheet and heavy fillet welds alike. The approvals include classification societies, which opens the way to shipyard work.
The electrode suits the steels S235JRG2 to S355J2, the grades P235GH, P265GH, P295GH and P355N, and pipe to API 5L. There is little spatter, the slag detaches by itself and the transition from the weld into the parent metal is left without a notch. Up to the 2.0 mm diameter you also weld vertical-down. The material strikes an arc on a small transformer with an open circuit voltage of 42 V.

At the 6.0 mm diameter expect a high current and work in the flat position, on a part set up rigidly. Weld thin sheet with the 2.0 mm diameter, keeping the travel fast and even. Connect the holder to the negative pole when you work on DC. Rutile electrodes do not need drying the way basic ones do, but dry damp ones to the data sheet, otherwise the arc will start spitting.
