What BÖHLER NiBAS 70/20-FD flux-cored wire is used for

BÖHLER NiBAS 70/20-FD is a rutile flux-cored wire. It suits welding nickel alloys and is used on tanks and piping in nickel alloys, and for cladding steel surfaces.

It is used on grades such as NiCr15Fe. The deposit keeps its toughness in the cryogenic range, so the wire goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, the deposition rate shows on long welds and thicker walls, and the slag covers the bead while it cools slowly.

  • Classification EN ISO: T Ni 6082 R M 3
  • AWS classification: ENiCr3T0-4
  • Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm

Keep the interpass temperature low and limit weaving, nickel is sensitive to hot cracking. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
