BÖHLER Q T 308L is a high alloyed austenitic stainless TIG rod. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The rod joins grades such as 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4306, X2CrNi19-11, 1.4307, X2CrNi18-9 and 1.4311, along with related materials. It also suits cladding runs on steel, and its deposit has an austenitic structure that resists corrosion.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance.
