BÖHLER Q T 316L is a high alloyed austenitic stainless TIG rod. It is used on process installations, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
Base materials include 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4409, 1.4429, 1.4432, 1.4435 and 1.4436. The rod also suits cladding runs on steel, and its deposit has an austenitic structure that resists corrosion.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield.
