Thermanit GE-316L is a high alloyed austenitic stainless TIG rod. It is used on process installations, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
The rod joins grades such as 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4409, 1.4429, 1.4432, 1.4435 and 1.4436, along with related materials. It also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, and its deposit has an austenitic structure that resists corrosion.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads.
