BÖHLER SAS 4-IG is a TIG rod for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. Typical work covers tanks, process installations, food and chemical industry equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.
The rod joins grades such as 1.4571, 1.4580, 1.4401, 1.4581, 1.4437, 1.4583 and 1.4436, along with related materials. Its deposit resists intergranular corrosion.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Match the diameter to the plate thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
