What diamondspark GUARD 420 RC flux-cored wire is used for

diamondspark GUARD 420 RC is a rutile flux-cored wire for mild and low-alloy steels, fine-grained grades included. It is used in structural steelwork, on tanks, piping and series production.

Among the parent materials it covers S235JR, S355JR, S235JO, S355JO, S235J2, S355J2 and S275N. The seamless sheath keeps moisture away from the core even after longer storage, and the deposition rate shows on long welds and thicker walls.

  • Classification EN ISO: 17632-AT 42 3 P M21 1 H5
  • AWS classification: A5.20 / SFA-5.20E71T-1M/T-9M/T-12M H4
  • Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 mm

Match the voltage to the wire feed speed, too low a setting gives a convex face and no fusion into the edges. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time.
