FOXcore 309L-T0 DG is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless flux-cored wire of the E 309 type for surfacing low-alloy steels and for dissimilar welds between mild steel and stainless steel, run either under a mixed gas or under 100 % CO2.
The rutile core gives a fast freezing pool, a well shaped face and slag that lifts easily. The wire also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, the deposit has a corrosion resistant austenitic structure, and typical work covers tanks, process plant and equipment in contact with water and steam.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool, not ahead of it.
