What Pipeshield X 80 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Pipeshield X 80 is a solid wire for mild steel. It suits welding mild and low-alloy steels, fine-grained grades included, on welded structures, halls, frames, machine parts and repairs of structural steel.

It is used on grades such as API5L, L290MB, L555MB, L290NB and L415NB. All welding positions are open to it, which helps on site, and the wire does well on root runs.

Clean rust, paint and grease out of the groove, contaminated plate gives porosity even with well set parameters. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc.
