Pipeshield X 60 is a solid wire for mild steel. It suits welding mild and low-alloy steels on steel structures, tanks, machine frames and workshop work on black steel.
It is used on grades such as L290MB and L450MB. You can weld in all positions, including vertical up and overhead, and the wire does well on root runs.

Clean rust, paint and grease out of the groove, contaminated plate gives porosity even with well set parameters. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind.
