What Thermanit 13/04 Si solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 13/04 Si is a high-alloyed martensitic stainless solid wire. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.

It joins materials such as 1.4313, 1.4317, 1.4407, 1.4414 and UNS S41500. The wire also suits cladding runs on steel, and the deposit has a martensitic structure.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G 13 4
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER410NiMo (mod.)
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.5 mm

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
