What Thermanit H Si solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit H Si is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.

Parent materials are 1.4550, AISI 347, 304L, 304LN and ASTM A296. The wire also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, its composition protects the joint against intergranular corrosion, and typical work covers tanks and process plant in contact with water and steam.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
