What Thermanit 16/05 Mo solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 16/05 Mo is a high-alloyed martensitic stainless solid wire. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.

Typical parent materials are 1.4028, X30Cr13, 1.4405, 1.4418 and AISI 420. The deposit has a martensitic structure, and the wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from a semiautomatic torch.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G 16 5 1
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Diameters: 1.2 / 2.0 mm

Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the face. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
