Thermanit 16/05 Mo is a high alloyed, soft martensitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The wire is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks, and it works as a set with a matched flux that decides the mechanical properties of the weld. It also covers pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance matters.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 16 5 1
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off.
