Thermanit 16/05 Mo is a high alloyed martensitic TIG rod. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
Typical base materials are 1.4028, X30Cr13, 1.4405, 1.4418 and AISI 420. The deposit has a martensitic structure, and the rod is used on process installations, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than you need to, the structure expands and pulls out of shape. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
