What Thermanit 1610 Si solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 1610 Si is a high-alloyed martensitic stainless solid wire. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.

Typical parent materials are 1.4016, X6Cr17, 1.4502, X8CrTi18, 1.4510, X3CrTi17 and AISI 430Ti. The wire also suits cladding runs on steel, and the deposit has a martensitic structure.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
