Application

What Thermanit 17/15 TT solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 17/15 TT is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

It is used on grades such as 1.5662, X8Ni9 and 1.4311. The deposit keeps its toughness in the cryogenic range, so the wire goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, and its structure is austenitic.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G Z 17 15 Mn W
  • AWS classification: A5.9 EG
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13, M14
  • Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (02890), ABS, BV, DNV, LR, RINA, CE

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback.
