Thermanit 17/15 TT is a TIG rod for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
Base materials are 1.5662, X8Ni9 and 1.4311. The deposit keeps its impact toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so the rod reaches tanks and lines for liquefied gases, and TIG gives you full control over the heat input.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
