Thermanit 1720 is a high-alloyed ferritic stainless solid wire. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from a semiautomatic torch, it also suits cladding runs on steel, and the deposit has a ferritic structure.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G Z 17 Mo
- Shielding gas: I1, M13
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (08107), CE
Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
