What Thermanit 19/10 H SAW wire is used for

Thermanit 19/10 H is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire, heat and creep resistant. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.

The wire is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks. It also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, and its deposit has an austenitic structure that resists heat and creep.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 19 9 H
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER19-10H
  • Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than you need to, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off.
