What Thermanit 19/15 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 19/15 is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

It joins grades such as 1.3941, X4CrNi18-3, 1.3945, 1.3948, 1.3952, 1.3953 and 1.3955 together with their equivalents. The wire also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, and the deposit has an austenitic structure.

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind.
