Thermanit 19/15 is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The wire works as a set with a matched flux, which decides the mechanical properties of the weld. It also suits cladding runs on steel, its deposit has an austenitic structure, and it covers process installations, heat exchangers and sanitary structures.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 20 16 3 Mn N L
- AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER316LN
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape.
