Thermanit 20/16 SM is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.3948, 1.3951, 1.3952, 1.3957, 1.5662, X8Ni9 and 1.3964. The wire also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces and goes into shipbuilding and vessel repair, with an austenitic deposit.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G Z 22 17 8 4 N L
- Shielding gas: M12, M13
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.5 mm
- Approvals: WIWEB, DNV, CE
Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the face. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion.
