Thermanit 20/16 SM is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
Base materials are 1.3948, 1.3951, 1.3952, 1.3953, 1.3964 and 1.4439. The wire also suits cladding runs on steel, and its deposit resists intergranular corrosion with an austenitic structure.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S Z 22 17 8 4 N L
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 2.4 mm
Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the bead face. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
