Thermanit 20/25 Cu is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.4465, 1.4505, 1.4506, 1.4537, 1.4538, 1.4539 and 1.4586. The wire also suits cladding runs on steel, and the deposit has an austenitic structure.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind.
