Thermanit 25/04 is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire, heat resistant. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.
Base materials include 1.4347, 1.4340, 1.4745, 1.4746, X8CrTi25, 1.4762 and 1.4776. The deposit is heat resistant with an austenitic structure, and the wire works as a set with a matched flux that decides the mechanical properties of the weld.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 25 4
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 2.0 mm
Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining.
