What Thermanit 25/09 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 25/09 is a high-alloyed superduplex solid wire. It goes on tanks, pipelines and chemical or marine structures that need strength and corrosion resistance at the same time.

It joins materials such as 1.4410, 1.4467, 1.4468, 1.4507, 1.4515, 1.4517 and UNS S32750, and the deposit matches the superduplex grades. Typical work covers chemical plants, desalination units, tanks and offshore structures.

Watch the heat input and the interpass temperature, overheating duplex upsets the ferrite to austenite balance in the weld. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
