Thermanit 25/14 E-309L is a TIG rod for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The rod suits grades such as 1.4583, S355N and S500N. It covers root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face, along with tanks, process installations and equipment in contact with water and steam.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
