Thermanit 25/22 H is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The wire works as a set with a matched flux, which decides the mechanical properties of the weld. It also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, its composition protects the joint against intergranular corrosion, and the deposit has an austenitic structure.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 25 22 2 N L
- AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER310 (mod.)
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off.
