Thermanit 25/22 H is an austenitic basic coated electrode of the E Z 25 22 2 L B / E310Mo-15 type. The manufacturer directs it to the corrosion conditions of urea synthesis plants, to joining and surfacing on materials of similar composition, and to cladding high temperature steels and welding joints on claddings.
The base materials are 1.4335 (X1CrNi25-21), 1.4435 (X2CrNiMo18-14-3) and 1.4465 (X1CrNiMoN22-25-3). The deposit has excellent corrosion resistance in strongly oxidizing and slightly reducing environments and high resistance to intergranular, selective and chloride induced pitting corrosion and to stress corrosion cracking. It is seawater resistant and stands up to nitric acid, and in the Huey test to ASTM A 262 the loss stays under 1.5 micrometres per 48 hours. The structure remains austenitic with up to 0.5 percent ferrite, scaling resistance reaches 1050 degrees C and the maximum service temperature is 350 degrees C.

A fully austenitic deposit with no ferrite is prone to hot cracking, so run narrow stringer beads, keep the interpass temperature low and fill the craters completely. When cladding heat resistant steel, limit dilution, because excess iron spoils the corrosion resistance of the first layer. Dry the electrodes to the data sheet and hand them out from a portable quiver.
