Thermanit 30/10 is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire for special applications. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.
Submerged arc welding gives a very high deposition rate on long, repeatable welds. The deposit has an austenitic structure that resists corrosion, and typical work covers tanks, process installations and equipment in contact with water and steam.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 29 9
- AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER312
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than you need to, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape.
