What Thermanit 304 H Cu solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 304 H Cu is a high-alloyed solid wire for service at high temperature. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.

The parent material is 1.4907. The wire also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces and is meant for joints working at elevated temperature.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
