Application

What Thermanit 308 H solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 308 H is a high-alloyed solid wire for service at high temperature. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

It joins grades such as 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4541, 1.4550, 1.4878, 1.4948 and X7CrNi18-9 together with their equivalents, and it is meant for joints working at elevated temperature.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G 19 9 H
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER308H
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 / 2.0 mm

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
