Thermanit 308 H is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire, heat and creep resistant. Typical work covers tanks, process installations, food and chemical industry equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.
The wire is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks. Its deposit has an austenitic structure that resists corrosion, heat and creep.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 19 9 H
- AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER308H
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the bead face. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
