Thermanit 308 Mo is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire for special applications. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The wire is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks. It also suits cladding runs on steel, its composition protects the joint against intergranular corrosion, and the deposit has an austenitic structure.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 20 10 3
- AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER308Mo (mod.)
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 3.2 mm
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
