Application

What Thermanit 309 H solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 309 H is a high-alloyed solid wire for service at high temperature. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.

It joins grades such as 1.4826, 1.4828, 1.4833, X12CrNi23-13, 1.4710, 1.4713 and 1.4724 together with their equivalents, including boilers and pressure vessels under technical inspection, and it is meant for joints working at elevated temperature.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G 22 12 H
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER309 (mod.)
  • Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 2.0 mm

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
