Thermanit 309L is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
The typical parent material is S500N, and the deposit has an austenitic structure.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
