Application

What Thermanit 309L Mo solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 309L Mo is a high-alloyed solid wire for special applications. It suits welding stainless and acid-resistant steels on tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

The wire suits hand work with a semiautomatic torch and mechanised stations, and it also serves for cladding runs on steel.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G 23 12 2 L
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER309LMo(mod.)
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 mm

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc.
