Application

What Thermanit 310 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 310 is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

It joins materials such as 1.4841, 1.4845, X8CrNi25-21, 1.4846, X40CrNi25-21, UNS S31000 and AISI 310. The wire also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, and the deposit has an austenitic structure.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G 25 20
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER310
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm

Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the face. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
