Thermanit ATS 4 is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
Parent materials are 1.4550, 1.4948, X6CrNi18-1, 1.4878, AISI 304H, 321H and 347H. The wire also suits cladding runs on steel, in tank building, process piping and chemical or food equipment.

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
