Thermanit GE-316L is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4409, 1.4429, 1.4432, 1.4435 and 1.4436. The wire also suits cladding runs on steel, and the deposit has an austenitic structure.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
