What Thermanit H-347 TIG rod is used for

Thermanit H-347 is a high alloyed austenitic stainless TIG rod. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.

Base materials include 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4306, X2CrNi19-11, 1.4311, 1.4312 and 1.4541. The rod also suits cladding runs on steel, and its deposit has an austenitic structure that resists corrosion.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield.
