What Thermanit JE-308L solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit JE-308L is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

Among the parent materials it covers 1.4306, X2CrNi19-11, 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4311, 1.4312 and 1.4541. The wire also suits cladding runs on steel, and the deposit has an austenitic structure.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G 19 9 L
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER308L
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Diameters: 0.9 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 / 2.0 mm

Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the face. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind.
